When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

A walk-in clinic is the right choice for most non-urgent concerns. Please go to the nearest emergency department or call 911 if you are experiencing:

  • Chest pain, difficulty breathing or signs of a stroke
  • Severe bleeding, a major burn, or a suspected broken bone
  • A head injury with loss of consciousness
  • Severe abdominal pain or persistent vomiting
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or someone else

For non-urgent advice at any hour, Health Link is available 24/7 at 811.

What to Bring to Your Walk-In Visit

  1. Your Alberta Health Care card. Most walk-in visits are fully covered for eligible Alberta residents.
  2. A list of your current medications, including doses and any supplements.
  3. Your pharmacy name and location, so we can send prescriptions directly.
  4. Any relevant documents — WCB claim numbers, previous test results, or forms that need completing.

How a Walk-In Visit Works

1. Arrive and check in. Give your name and health care number at the front desk and tell us briefly what you’re coming in for.

2. Wait times are posted. Our team will give you a realistic estimate. If the wait is long, you’re welcome to step out and come back.

3. See a physician. You’ll be seen by one of our family physicians, who will assess your concern, examine you if needed, and start treatment.

4. Leave with a plan. That means a prescription, a lab or imaging requisition, a referral, or a follow-up appointment — whatever your situation calls for.

Looking for a Family Doctor?

Many patients come to us once as a walk-in and stay. Having a regular family physician means someone who knows your history, follows your chronic conditions, and coordinates your specialist care — and it means fewer repeat visits explaining the same thing. As a Mosaic Primary Care Network clinic, we can also connect you at no cost to dietitians, mental health counsellors and other allied health professionals.

Ask at the front desk whether our physicians are currently accepting new patients.
